Travel Wedding Show concludes in Mumbai with 1922 meetings

The sixth edition of the Travel Wedding Show garnered 1922 meetings over two days. Held at the Westin Mumbai Garden City on July 13-14, 2019, the first day witnessed 31 exhibitors interact with 31 wedding planners over pre-scheduled table-top meetings, showcasing their offerings that would interest the growing wedding market.The second day followed a similar pattern but with tour operators, who also did weddings. The show managed to bring out some interesting trends emerging in the wedding segment. The first day’s session ended with a power-packed panel discussion where industry experts deliberated on why Indian weddings are going international. This was moderated by Rajeev Jain, Director, Rashi Entertainment and the speakers included Sanjay Rai, EVP- Sales, Oberoi Hotels & Resorts; Emree Kirazci, Director of Sales & Marketing, Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa; Udaya Bhattarai, Senior Assistant Manager, Nepal Tourism Board; and Tekla Maira, Director, Luxury Sales, Accor Hotels Luxe, AccorHotels.

Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre expands with new 11,000 sqm space to a total 33,659 sqm of flexible multi-purpose function space

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre’s brand-new 11,000 sqm expansion is officially open for business as the venue hosts its inaugural event in the multi-purpose space – ARCHIDEX, which also becomes the first event to utilise the entire Centre’s space. The extension enables the Centre to comfortably accommodate larger events, as well as host more events simultaneously. The new flexible spaces can accommodate innovative and experiential delivery of events and have been designed to easily adapt to any customer requirements. This purpose-built space allows clients to explore new meeting designs, networking hubs and customise their delegate experience to suit any occasion. New additions include an expansive foyer area adjoining the Plenary Hall, for wonderful networking, cocktail and social engagement activities, which can extend into Hall 6 – providing an additional 2,862 sqm. Hall 6, 7 and 8 also have a hospitality suite and one lounge which can be utilised for various purposes. With an excellent track record in hosting large international association meetings, the Centre is delighted to now provide more space for these clients to grow their events. The prospect of bidding for larger national, regional and international conventions is also now a very viable option. Odisha hosted 10 meeting planners to showcase state MICE potential

Recognising the potential of Odisha as a MICE destination in view of the excellent infrastructure available in cities like Bhubaneswar, the Swosti Group organised a MICE roadshow there last week. As many as 10 meeting planners from different cities including Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, representing associations and corporate attended the event. The roadshow was preceded by a visit to Chilika Lake on July 2 to showcase the MICE facilities at the Swosti Chilika Resort. The roadshow included B2B meetings, presentation by ICPB, Tourism Department and Swosti Group. The event brought the buyers and sellers of the industry on a common platform to discuss MICE business opportunities, more options of venues, services of professional organisers to stimulate a more rapid growth of the industry.

ITB Asia 2019 introduces new Buyers Elite Partner Programme (BEPP)

ITB Asia, , has introduced a new Buyers Elite Partner Programme (BEPP). Under the new initiative, with every partner that recommends 15 successful buyers to attend the show, ITB Asia will provide complimentary hosting. This gives partners a platform to develop stronger trade ties with recommended buyers and secure more business opportunities together. Building on the success of 2018’s Buyers Programme, this year’s ITB Asia has already seen about 35% increase in approved buyers. Buyers are coming from across the world but specifically from high-growth markets such as Southeast Asia, China and India. “As the leading travel trade show, we want to provide a dynamic and diverse platform for our stakeholders to forge strong business relationships. TTM+ 2019 showcased 351 buyers and 371 sellers

Thailand’s most important B2B travel trade show, the Thailand Travel Mart Plus Amazing Gateway to the Greater Mekong Subregion (TTM+) 2019, attracted a total of 351 buyers (including 50 Indian buyers), 371 sellers, and around 130 international and domestic media on June 5. Themed ‘New Shades of Emerging Destinations’, TTM+ 2019 was held at the Ocean Marina Yacht Club, Pattaya, the biggest marina in Southeast Asia. The mart that lasted for three days comes back this year in a bigger and brighter format that clearly reflects the new sense of direction in a rapidly evolving and highly competitive global environment. The overall focus of the show will be Thailand’s emerging destinations nationwide, 55 provinces with spectacular beauty, heritage, cultural and culinary attractions. The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), introduced the iconic Taj brand in Agra with the opening of Taj Hotel & Convention Centre, Agra. The hotel, spread over 4.5 acres, is ideally located within walking distance from the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The 239-spacious rooms hotel is an ideal destination for large conferences and destination weddings. It offers 40,000 sqft of indoor and outdoor banqueting space including a 14,000 sqft pillar-less hall which is one of the largest in North India. Hilton Prague tops list of meetings hotel in Europe

Hilton Prague has bagged the number one position as Top Meeting Hotel according to Cvent’s annual list of the Top 50 Meeting Hotels in Europe. Cvent’s Top Meeting Hotels lists rank venues based on MiCE performance according to various criteria, including total requests for proposals (RFPs) and conversion rate. The list was compiled by analysing meeting and event booking activity through the Cvent Supplier Network (CSN).
